Caroline Krass, CIA Director John Brennan's legal adviser was involved in the referral her boss made to the FBI in 2016, to open a counterespionage case to find out how Russian intelligence intercepted information about Hillary Clinton’s plan to tie up Trump in a Kremlin scandal. The intercept revealed the Russians were on to a plot by Hillary, and her then-foreign policy adviser, Jake Sullivan, to "stir up" a scandal on Trump about Russia during the Democratic convention in late July 2016.

Brennan appears to have been less concerned about the Clinton campaign’s political sabotage campaign than the fact Moscow knew about it. This so alarmed Brennan that he briefed Obama about it.

According to his own, handwritten notes, former Central Intelligence Agency Director, John Brennan, briefed President Obama and other senior national security officials, including FBI Director Comey, on July 26, 2016, about the Hillary Clinton's "approval of a proposal, from one of her foreign policy advisors, to vilify Donald Trump, by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services, and as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server."

The date of Brennan’s warning is important. It was three days before the FBI began operation Crossfire Hurricane , the investigation into Trump-Russia.

Then, the CIA chief drummed up a phony intelligence community report that came to a “consensus” that Russians meddled in the 2016 election. He was the report’s lead writer and he personally edited a section of it himself. In fact, career analysts disputed Brennan’s conclusion that Vladimir Putin was intent on helping defeat Hillary Clinton, but the CIA director ignored them. He became a political ally of Hillary Clinton and donated monies to her campaign.

Some career analysts found that Putin feared Trump as a “wild card” who wanted to expand the US military. They also noted that the Kremlin’s main purpose was “generally trying to sow discord and disrupt the American democratic process” -- as it had meddled in the 2008 and 2012 campaigns.

Brennan’s report helped justify the Mueller investigation -- which, after two years, found absolutely no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Curious question: why was it CIA Director John Brennan who briefed Obama on the Hillary connection in July 2016 and not the FBI?
